This revision essentially intends to reinforce transparency duties for entities that possess media outlets, ensuring that information about public funding through institutional publicity is made available clearly, accessibly and up to date, in accordance with the requirements of the new European board as set out in the European Media Freedom Act (EMFA), particularly the provisions of Article 6, relating to the mandatory disclosure of the annual total income from institutional publicity provided by national and foreign authorities and public entities.
ERC announces that the draft amendment to Regulation n. º835/2020 will be submitted for public consultation, expectedly in the last quarter of 2025.
ERC considers that the active participation of regulated entities is essential to ensure that the new regime effectively responds to European requirements and the specificities of the national sector.
