Francisco de Paula Melo de Azevedo e Silva

He started his professional career as a journalist in 1980, at Radio Renascença, having worked in the press and for radio and television.

He held the position of Assistant and Deputy Director at the Diário de Notícias newspaper for seven years (1997 – 2005), Director of Information at TVI (1995- 1996) and Assistant Director at Radio Renascença.

He participated in the TVI creation project, joining the television staff in 1991 as a journalist and also taking on an editing role.

He was journalist and editor at Jornal Público and formed part of the team that executed the newpaper's launch project. He took part in the creation of Jornal Independente, where he held an editing role. He was also journalist and editor of the Diário de Notícias, Correio da Manhã and Tempo newspapers.

He withdrew from journalism activities between 2007 and 2015, when he joined the Mission Structure for the Portuguese Presidency of the European Union Council. He was a specialist technician in the Office of the Secretary of State of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and of the Ministry of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (2011 – 2015).

He is the author of several works and has co-authored two books on economic and social investigation topics. For three years he has participated in a research project at the Catholic University.

On December 14th 2017, Francisco Azevedo e Silva was appointed Member of the Regulatory Board.
